Hello Hellcats!!
January is almost over and we have so many exciting things coming up starting with our first competition of the season!!
Cubs, Panthers, Leopards, Lions and Mountain Lions will be taking to the floor at BCA Fundamentals this Saturday (1st February) in Crawley.
On that note, we need to inform you of some information that has just been released to us from BCA. The venue the competition is being held at, K2, has a strict no outside food policy. No food purchased outside the venue will be allowed to be brought inside. The venue does have a cafe as well as some vending machines so please ensure your cheerleaders have money to purchase food throughout the day. We understand this is frustrating and can only apologize along with BCA for the inconvenience.
A reminder that if you would like to watch our teams compete this weekend that tickets need to be purchased in advance through the BCA website. There may be some tickets available on the door but this cannot be guaranteed so be sure to book in advance to avoid disappointment.
We have recently sent out messages regarding arrival times for athletes on Saturday. The running order is still changing slightly and we will let you know of any major changes to this schedule:
Scarlet Reed (Dance Solo) Arrive: 9am
All Stunt Groups (Lions and Mountain Lions) Arrive: 9:30am
All Cheer Teams (Cubs, Panthers, Leopards) Arrive: 12:30pm
Awards: Approximately 4pm
Further down this email, you will find a packing list of everything your cheerleader will need for Saturday's competition. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
This week at training, our competition teams will be having Fight Night to get prepped for competition. Athletes are encouraged to wear black and/or camo print to training instead of their usual training kit and bring their A-Game. This session will see lots of run-throughs of our routines as well as some team building to ensure that we are the best we can be on the floor on Saturday.
We will also be handing out uniforms during these training sessions this week so please ensure that your cheerleader arrives dressed in their uniform at their arrival time. Please make sure your cheerleader brings a change of clothes for the end of the competition as we will be asking for all uniforms to be returned before you leave. We will be giving each cheerleader their uniforms in a plastic bag with their name on and we ask that you return them in the same labeled bag as this makes things easier for us when it comes to sorting and washing uniforms after the competition.
Fight Night does not apply to Rec, Tigers, Jungle Cats, Lynx, Ocelots, and Jaguars as you are not competing this weekend. Your regular training sessions will continue as normal.
We would also like to remind you that team bows are a requirement for all competitive athletes as part of your uniform. Some athletes are yet to purchase their competition bows and these need to be ordered ahead of Saturday's competition. You can order via our online store.
Don't forget that BCA also requires athlete ID Cards to be worn on lanyards around the neck during the event. We offer Hellcats lanyards for just £3.50 which can also be purchased online ahead of Saturday's competition or can be purchased with cash on the day.
It is essential that your cheerleader brings their ID Card on Saturday (if your cheerleader has not competed at BCA with us before, we have their ID Card and will give it to them upon arrival) otherwise they may not be permitted entry to the event. They will not be allowed to compete without it and replacement cards cost £10.
Looking past competition, please note there will be no regular training sessions the week of February half term. We will be running our half term tumble camp on Wednesday 19th February from 9am-12pm. This will be held at Sportac Gymnastics Centre in Feltham and costs £12 for 3 hours. Spaces on our popular tumble camps fill up fast so book now to avoid disappointment.
We would also like to remind you that this week is the deadline for purchasing tickets for our second competition of the season, ICE Blast Crawley. Tickets can be bought through our online shop until Midnight on 31st January. Tickets ordered after this time cannot be guaranteed.
Finally, we have been working on some very exciting things behind the scenes here at Hellcats HQ and we are thrilled to finally be able to share it with you! Over the past few months we have been trying to find a way to make it easier for parents and athletes to get important information regarding cheer as well as access to things like team music and videos for practice at home. So, without further ado, we are beyond excited to announce the Hellcats Cheerleaders app! We are in the process of publishing the app to both Apple and Android App Stores and will be sending out a message when it is ready for download. The app will be free to download and we ask that all parents please download when it is available as it will hold a lot of key information relevant to your athlete. Athletes are also able to download the app and will then have access to videos from training, count sheets, music etc to help them practice at home.
See you at training!
