Looking forward to season 8 and what it means for Hellcats post Covid-19
With the news this week that our July competitions are cancelled, meaning a sad end to our 2019-2020 season, we are looking forward to next season and what that will mean for our cheerleaders and teams.
AGE GRIDS REMAIN
Due to the disruption Covid-19 has had on the 2019-2020 season Sports Cheer England has decided to keep the age grid for the 2020-2021 season the same as the 2019-2020 season meaning that any cheerleaders that would have normally aged out of their current team next season will be allowed to compete one more season on the team that they are currently on.
This is very welcomed news as this will allow teams across the UK to get a chance to compete their routines that they have havent been able to this season.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR HELLCATS?
All our cheerleaders and coaches have worked incredibly hard this year to choreograph, teach and learn skills and routines and we want to allow them to finish what they started and give everyone the chance to showcase their hard work like they deserve.
Therefore all teams and routines will remain the same for next season as much as possible. This gives us the chance to perfect the skills everyone has worked so hard on this year and get some closure on this season. The only changes to teams will be as a result of any current athletes leaving and new athletes joining.
Short term I know some cheerleaders who were possibly hoping they may have gone up a level next year may feel disappointed but for the health and safety of all our athletes and the long term progression of the club we believe this is the best decision for everyone. With athletes having had at least 6 months off from training by the time we will be allowed to return, there will be a noticeable set back and it would be amiss of us to move athletes onto other teams when they wont be at the same skill level when we return as they would have been had we continued. Our goals and dreams havent changed, just our timeline!

Stunt groups TBC depending on who we have doing them. Tumble training times will be sent out to you individually once we know you will be returning. We are dividing athletes by ability for tumble training next year so please note your tumble training time may change to allow for this.
We are excited to announce that we will also be having a brand new 'Travel Team' for Weybridge which will be competing in Amsterdam next season. This is in addition to your normal training team and is not compulsory which is why we wanted to offer it as a separate team rather than expect everyone to attend so that way you can choose if you would like to do this or not. The level of this team will be determined by who we get sign up. If you are interested in joining this team please email hellcatscheerleaders@gmail.com
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
All we need to know from you at this stage is if you intend on cheerleading with us next season or not so we can see what the teams will look like next season and start planning.
If you are currently on a Rec team but would like to be on a competition team next season please let us know.
If you are currently on a stunt group please also let us know if you would like to also be on a stunt group next season. We will be offering stunt group spaces to those who were already in a stunt group this season first and foremost and then fill any spaces we have after this.
If you are not currently on a stunt group but would like to be considered please let us know so we can inform you if we have spaces.
