September Newsletter: Teams, Trainers and Tumbling!

Welcome to our first newsletter of the 2018-19 season!

Welcome and Welcome Back!

It's the start of a new season - to those of you joining us for the first time, welcome! To those of you returning for another season, welcome back!

It was great to see so many faces at our try-out sessions and after a difficult deliberation process, we feel extremely happy with the teams we have lined up for this season (details of which can be found further on in this newsletter) and we can't wait to see what they bring to the mat.

This is Hellcats 5th season and we are pleased to announce we have expanded even further this year with a Chichester destruction (apparently that's the collective noun for a group of wild cats!) - Hellcats Cheetahs. Since we don't live locally to Hellcats, we thought it would be nice to bring a bit of the team we love so much a little closer to home. We can't wait to see how they get on!

We are also very excited to welcome 4 new junior coaches to our staff - Caitlyn, Nyca, Layla and Olivia will be joining Tiff and Charlie as our Junior coaches for 2018/19. Sadly, we have had to say goodbye for now to Kat, our other Coach, as she has just moved to London for University. She is studying Cancer Biomedicine at UCL and we couldn't be prouder of her! Good Luck Kat!

We also have some VERY exciting news to share! This October half term we have been lucky enough to secure a Tumbling Camp with Max Out Cheer and Tumble. Mychael is a level 1-5 cheer and tumbling coach and has worked with so many great teams around the country - including going to the Cheerleading World Championships with Unity Allstars Black!

The camp will be held on Friday 26th October from 10:30-12:30pm at the Feltham Gymnastics Centre - places are extremely limited and we expect spaces to fill up fast. Booking for the Tumble Camp can be done here.

Finally, some of you who are new to the team may have had your daughters coming home saying they need new trainers. This is true. The girls all need plain white trainers with a smooth sole in order to train and compete. These don't have to be official cheerleading trainers (although such a thing does exist!), just plain white trainers will be fine and can be picked up cheaply from local stores like Tesco or Sports Direct. More information can be found further down this newsletter.

We are looking forward to the next month, and the entire season, with all our incredible teams and can't wait to get started on our routines! Just a reminder that our next compulsory Tumble Clinic in Feltham will be Sunday 21st October.

See you at training! Rachel & Laura

Meet The Teams!

Tigers

Tigers is our School team. Competing in the Junior Level 1 division, this team is only available to students from Heathside School and they spend the year working towards the Schools Out competition in Bournemouth in July. This team is perfect for beginners wanting an introduction to cheer without the cost and pressure of multiple competitions.

Panthers

Panthers is our Junior Level 1 All Star team. This team is open to anyone who wants to try competitive all-star cheerleading. Competing 3 times a season, beginning with ICC Southern Championships in February, this team is great for beginners and gives them a real insight into the world of competitive cheerleading. Panthers is open to athletes aged 6-14.

Leopards

Leopards is our Elite Senior Level 2 team. Open to those with prior experience of cheerleading and more advanced tumbling ability, appointment to this team is by try-out only. For ages 10-17, Leopards compete 3 times a season: ICC Southern Championships (February), Summer Showdown (June) and FC Internationals (July). We are excited to be trying this new division this season!
